Douglas Farrell, Company Director at NYCA says:-
"Randy Conti, the Artistic Director of the New York Conservatory for the Arts, has had an affinity for the story of 'The Three Musketeers' as inspired by the novel.
He originally searched for a dramatic adaptation of the adventure, which NYCA produced in play form in the late 1990s. After the dramatic performance, the next step was to find a musical adaptation - but most important in the search was to find a musical that has a 17th century feel combined with a contemporary edge to relate to today's audience.
The 'All 4 One' score has such a feel. It transcends time - transporting you back in time to the 17th century while maintaining a connection to today's energy.
'All 4 One' was chosen by the NYCA because it offered a musical which held the dramatic action to the foremost importance - allowing the song and dance to flow from the story and the characters - an approach to performance which we teach at our Conservatory.
Our staff wanted to provide our actors with a challenging piece based on a passionate story.
The Dumas' French settings enhance the theatrical experience and possibilities for a fast moving story with sets of draped fabrics and minimal yet striking set pieces.
The exciting book and finely constructed music are the perfect filigree to show the tales of Dumas in the glory they deserve."
